A rough history of major changes to Happy Menus.
- October 2004: a tab menu type has been added, with matching variations for all 26 themes. Features include a selectTab parameter for setting the pre-selected state of a tab when the page is initially loaded.
- July 2004: three new menu types are added - slip-down menus, carousel menus, gliding menus; version 1.3 of Happy Menus includes general improvements, including a new "background" parameter for specifying a background colour and new designs for the Aqua-R and Aqua-M sliding menus.
- June 2004: new look-and-feel to site; new free storage accounts to save and load menumaker results online and download them more conveniently; the menumaker now allows online viewing of wider menus (up to 1000 pixels); information availability improved with more pages.
- February 2004: 10 new themes have been added, raising the total to 26. The total number of Happy Menus reaches 182. Version 1.2 of Happy Menus sees a small range of design corrections to some of the existing menus.
- September 2003: a "Big Happy Menus" Add-On is now available. This enables Happy Menus to handle large scale sites (up to 1000 menu items), and to read dynamic menus - for example, menus read from databases and pre-processed with server-side scripts such as PHP. In other words, Happy Menus can now accept content from all standard content management systems such as PHP/mySQL combinations, Oracle, Lotus Notes, etc.
- July 2003: the partner site Alien Menus is launched specialising in graphically enhanced drop-down menus using the same themes as Happy Menus. Alien Menus caters especially for the corporate sector with XML support and extensive API's.
- June 2003: a sliding menu type is added to Happy Menus, available in all themes; version 1.1 of Happy Menus includes a wide range of functional and design improvements.
- May 2003: Happy Menus first launched with 96 menus.
